Storage & stability
General guidelines for laboratory handling. Always follow the manufacturer's certificate of analysis and storage label when one is provided.
| Form | Condition | Typical stability | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lyophilized (powder) | Freezer, −20 °C | Months to years | Best for long-term storage. Keep sealed and dry. |
| Lyophilized (powder) | Refrigerator, 2–8 °C | Weeks to months | Protect from light and moisture. |
| Lyophilized (powder) | Room temperature | Days to weeks | Fine for shipping. Avoid heat. |
| Reconstituted (liquid) | Refrigerator, 2–8 °C | Varies by compound | Don't freeze. Repeated freeze-thaw damages peptides. |
| Multi-dose vial (bacteriostatic water) | After first puncture | 28 days | Standard pharmacy beyond-use guideline for opened multi-dose vials. |
Aseptic reconstitution: lab handling
- Wash your hands and work on a clean, disinfected surface.
- Let the vial reach room temperature.
- Wipe both vial stoppers with a fresh alcohol swab and let them air-dry.
- Add the diluent slowly, aiming the stream down the inside wall of the vial rather than directly at the powder.
- Swirl or roll the vial gently until the powder dissolves. Never shake.
- Label the vial with the compound, concentration and date, then refrigerate.
- Throw it out if the solution turns cloudy or discolored or contains particles.
Use only sterile, sealed diluent from a reputable source, and dispose of sharps in an approved sharps container.
